Conditions of Membership

  1. Membership of the Club ceases on 28 February each year and is renewable on 1 March each year.
  2. No person may make use of any Club facilities, use any Club equipment, or participate in any Club activities, store any boats or equipment on Club premises, transport any boats or equipment on the Club trailer or otherwise, or use the waterways in any manner whatsoever, without payment of their membership fees, displaying a water permit on their boat and signing an indemnity form.
  3. Club members make use of any Club facilities, use any Club equipment, or participate in any Club activities, store any boats or equipment on Club premises, transport any boats or equipment on the Club trailer or otherwise, or use the waterways in any manner whatsoever, entirely at their own risk.
  4. Water permits and indemnity forms are a requirement of Century City Property Owners Association and they are a condition of use of the Club facilities, Club equipment and waterways. A water permit sticker must be obtained from the Secretary and placed at the rear of your boat near the rudder. You will be asked to leave the water by Century City security if you do not display your sticker on your boat.
  5. Boat racks will be allocated by the Boat Rack Manager subject to availability. Priority will be given to members who participate regularly in Club time trials, races and training sessions. The Club will remove any canoes left in unpaid racks and impound them subject to payment of a release fee by the member. The Club reserves the right to sell unclaimed boats to offset the release fee without further notice. Proceeds will go to Club funds as a donation by the member.
  6. Communication of important paddling information, activities, events and results will take place in the Club whatsapp group, or posted on the Facebook page, or the website. Informal activities and urgent changes or updates may be posted on the “CCCC paddlers &TT” Whatsapp group. All members will be added to the Club email distribution list and the “CCCC paddlers and TT group”. You can unsubscribe by emailing secretariat@centurycitycanoeclub.co.za or “Exit Group” under “Group Info” in WhatsApp.
  7. Basic Proficiency which includes a swimming certification will be enforced and is an obligation for all existing and new members who plan on attending any club race or CSA race. All existing and new members who plan on attending any club race or CSA race will have to obtain their basic proficiency certification before registering as a CSA member via DOT Cloud. Existing members and new members should get in contact with the CCCC safety officer to make the necessary arrangements for a basic proficiency and swim test.

Notes

  1. Family membership applies only to direct family members of the same household (i.e. couples including their children under the age of 21 living under the same roof). Two water permits are included in the family membership fee. An additional water permit will need to be purchased for each additional paddling family member.
  2. Junior membership is for ages up to & including the year he/she turns 18.
  3. Student members must be full time (not part-time) students at an academic institution on the date of submission of the membership form. A copy of a current student card should be provided with the application.
  4. Reciprocal membership is available to fully paid-up current members of other Canoe Clubs.
  5. CSA Affiliation Membership is for affiliation purposes only and does not entitle members access to the club’s facilities, the waterways at Century City or a boat rack. To obtain access to these facilities a normal membership should be purchased.
  6. Western Cape Canoe Union (WCCU) registration is required if you want to participate in any canoe or surfski race sanctioned by WCCU or falling under CSA. You will need to complete the online registration found on https://paddler.canoesa.com
