With a huge time keeping contingent, some still licking their wounds from their Pink Lady experiences , a reduced field set out in perfect conditions with Gavin White setting the pace. Gavin , John and Godfrey still had some fuel left in their tanks after 2 days on the Berg.
Great to see Nick Longley back on the waters as well as newcomers Francis Beresford and Kirsten Penderis. Hope to see you as regular Time Trialers as the days get longer, but I guess weatherwise the worst is still to come.
Plenty of war stories around the supper table , the notable comment being that the Berg has changed quite dramatically in places as the forests of Blue Gum have been removed laying the river open to the elements such as the wind and rain making it a bit tougher than it already is, as the paddlers experienced on Day 2 of the Pink Lady marathon. Mike Monson related his adventures in wrapping his boat which he is determined to fix, just waiting on Greg’s version of what happened to his boat.
Time Trial attendees prompted by Richard Mudd, put together enough donations to fund a Starsky FLO Jacket as a spot prize for our Club Race , Herman to Gouda. Thanks to all for this spontaneous sponsoring. I am sure with all the support in this regard ,the race will be a huge success.
Thanks to Diva Cuisine for creating a fantastic candle lit ambience and the excellent food.
