Improve Paddling Speed
In order to increase paddling speed, you need to look at the following components
1. An increase in stoke length
2. Increase stroke frequency
3. Greater force production
4. Decrease in water contact
What is your training designed to change?
Genetics mainly determines your stroke length by the length of your arms. You can modify this slightly by increasing your seat height to gain longer paddle length, but this obviously comes at the expense of less stability due to your higher centre of gravity.
The other factors all relate to technique and strength work.
